No he didn't!!!

Since we were snowed in today I decided to clean out Austin's closet, the guest room closet and the hall. I was using a black sharpie to label some of Austin's clothes that we plan to loan out and stupid me left the sharpie on Austin's floor when I went to make lunch. It appeared to be really quiet and I just had a feeling he was into something he shouldn't be into. I walked into the guest room and found black marks on the carpet. At first I thought he was riding his car and something had got on the wheels and then I couldn't find him I so proceeded to his room where I found the lid to the marker. I then started to panic and found him behind the rocker in the guest room/soon to be baby sisters room. He had not only drawn on the carpet but all over his hand and foot, the window sill, blinds, wall, 3 riding cars and on the back of the rocker. You would think that I had left him alone for more than 5 minutes but no, he did all of this in under 5 minutes. His Nana told me he gets his drawing skills from his daddy.
Let me know if you any suggestions for how to get sharpie out of carpet. I have tried spot removers, nail polish remover, wipes, hairspray and will try Windex. I found all these suggestions on a sharpie remover website and nothing has taken it out so far.
After he realized he was in trouble.
The carpet...still can't get it out

Window sill...I used a Mr. Clean eraser to get most of it out but you can still see it. Any suggestions?

Wall...we have to paint the new nursery anyways so I didn't really care about this one.

Lessons in Potty Training

I was reading my friend Emily's blog and saw that she had a post on potty training so I just had to do one myself. Here goes....

Things I have learned from trying to potty train Austin

1. Patience, patience, patience

2. You don't necessarily have to pee or poop to flush, a good pooty (fart) will do according to Austin.

3. Bribery is okay...chocolate (M&M's), stickers, Cool CARS pull-ups....whatever works.

4. Producing a "big one" is cool. Austin gets this phrase from his daddy and Uncle Kev.

5. Telling him that Mama, Dada. Nana, Mimi, Papa and all his friends go potty on the big potty doesn't necessarily help. He just continues to say, "Mama poop, Dada, poop" and so on.

6. Let's not pee every time we get in the bathtub!

7. Don't push it...it will happen when they are good and ready.

8. Jumping up and down, clapping and dancing is an acceptable form of positive encouragement.

9. Demonstrating is okay whether it be a stuffed animal or mom or dad.

10. Having 2 kids in diapers won't be so bad will it????

Moms little helper

So the doctor has confirmed several times that we are having a baby girl. Nick and I were finally brave enough to start washing some of her newborn clothes. As you can see from the pictures below all we had to do was put the soap in. Austin loved looking at all the baby pink clothes. He is going to be such a good big brother.

Daddy using the fry daddy....outside

So Nick loves to fry french fries in his fry daddy but lately I can't stand the smell of the grease in the house! I prefer mine baked but he won't go for that.
I walked into the kitchen Sunday after church and Nick was standing there with his coat on. I asked him why he had his coat on and he told me he was cooking fries on the back patio. I thought it was the funniest thing to see him out there in 20 degree weather cooking fries. At least I didn't have to smell them! :) Thanks for cooking them outside, Nick.

More Austin pics

So Austin was all decked out in his OU gear for pre-school this morning! I just had to take a picture when we got home. There is something about these pictures that make him look so grown up! He is starting to get into posing for pictures and wants to look at himself on the camera afterwards. As his mom this makes me really happy because I have struggled the last 2 1/2 years to get him to just look at the camera. Enjoy!

Company Winter Party

Nick had his company work party on Saturday night. Last year it was scheduled in December and we had an ice storm so it was re-scheduled for January. I guess they liked it in January so much they decided to have it in January again this year. Anyways, here are some pictures from the party.
They had Tulsa Party Pics there so Nick and I braved it up and got in the photo booth. It looks quite different from the one we took when we were 16!

Jardine Cribs Recalled.....GRRR

What a pain to find out that your baby crib, which was bought 3 years ago, has been recalled. Austin slept in that crib for 2 years! My mom had told me about a recall at Babies R Us and being the awesome mom that I am, I completely forgot about our conversation until I received an e-mail saying........Entrapment and Strangulation Hazard, Wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers!!!

With a new baby on the way I definitely need to get a new crib. Jardine is issuing vouchers for the full retail price....$362 to buy a new crib. So all in all baby girl will get a brand new crib that hasn't been chewed on by her big brother and won't cause strangulation/entrapment. But you guys know how anal I am with wanting all her furniture to match. The changing table and end table will NOT match but I guess I just have to say oh well at least my kid is safe until the next recall.

Snot Your Average Wipe....Boogie Wipes

As most of you know, I am sucker when it comes to cool products for Austin that AREN'T a necessity. I found Boogie Wipes on a friends blog and just had to have them. You can buy them at Wal-Mart, Babies R Us or Toys R Us in Oklahoma. I favor the grape scent over the fresh scent. Austin even loves using them and has to smell them every time he uses one. If you go to their site you can get a $1 off coupon. Here are some cool facts about the wipes....I know I sound like a sales ad but the majority of my blog readers are parents....

Made with Natural Saline
Hypoallergenic
Alcohol Free
Moisturize with Vitamin E, Aloe and Chamomile
Lightly Scented
Gentle Enough for All Ages
Phthalate & Paraben Free

Baby bedding

As some of you know, I have had the hardest time picking out baby bedding for baby girl to be. I am not sure why I had such a hard time deciding except that there were several that I liked. Oh and of coarse Nick wanted whatever was cheapest!
In all decisions of my life I seem to make the simplest of decisions turn into what seems like huge life decisions. Today I finally ordered her bedding! I was so relieved after finally making my big girl decision....only after asking everyone elses opinion :) Anyways, here is a picture of what her room will resemble.
