Lessons in Potty Training

I was reading my friend Emily's blog and saw that she had a post on potty training so I just had to do one myself. Here goes....

Things I have learned from trying to potty train Austin

1. Patience, patience, patience

2. You don't necessarily have to pee or poop to flush, a good pooty (fart) will do according to Austin.

3. Bribery is okay...chocolate (M&M's), stickers, Cool CARS pull-ups....whatever works.

4. Producing a "big one" is cool. Austin gets this phrase from his daddy and Uncle Kev.

5. Telling him that Mama, Dada. Nana, Mimi, Papa and all his friends go potty on the big potty doesn't necessarily help. He just continues to say, "Mama poop, Dada, poop" and so on.

6. Let's not pee every time we get in the bathtub!

7. Don't push it...it will happen when they are good and ready.

8. Jumping up and down, clapping and dancing is an acceptable form of positive encouragement.

9. Demonstrating is okay whether it be a stuffed animal or mom or dad.

10. Having 2 kids in diapers won't be so bad will it????
